Gord Flett
Dr. Flett is most recognized for his seminal contributions to research and theory on the role of perfectionism in psychopathology. His collaborative work with Dr. Paul Hewitt of the University of British Columbia on perfectionism has received widespread national and international attention and has been the subject of numerous media stories, including coverage on CTV, CNN, and the BBC. This work has been supported by major research grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Dr. Flett also has a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Personality & Health.

Dr. Flett will base his presentation, in part, on his experience advising students during his time as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Dept. of Psychology as well as his published work on the nature of stress, procrastination, and perfectionism in university students. In addition, Dr. Flett is conducting provincially funded research with the York Region District School; this work is focused on the development of emotional, academic, and social resilience in students.
